Twice Broken Heart

You saw my heart cracking 
 and attempted to mend it
With smiles and kind words
But the crack deepened 

you grew frustrated,
confused
 so you cast it down, 
Severing the fracture
And creating another break 
 
Now here I lay 
with my twice broken heart
not knowing how to restart
 
And I have to wonder
would it be broken at all
if you hadn't let it fall?
