To know a piece of your heart
Is an ocean away
To know the milestones 
you WILL miss
The ones you're dying to share



Stolen moments
When by chance 
We can catch a quick glance
A distorted image
never quite the same



But when you're here 
Or I'm there
With no screens in between
No time or space has ever
Separated me from you

We're just as we were
A decade ago
Or more
When we cracked our first joke
Whispered our first secrets
Sealed the deal

To be forever friends
No matter how faraway



To know you is a particular pleasure
Well worth a particular pain
Until we are together again

Twice Broken Heart

You saw my heart cracking 
 and attempted to mend it
With smiles and kind words
But the crack deepened 

you grew frustrated,
confused
 so you cast it down, 
Severing the fracture
And creating another break 
 
Now here I lay 
with my twice broken heart
not knowing how to restart
 
And I have to wonder
would it be broken at all
if you hadn't let it fall?

The Dark Deep Unknown

Don't be afraid my darling
of falling into the dark deep unknown,
for I am at the bottom
anxiously awaiting your arrival
with open arms, and a warm heart.

rejoice in my touch. 
Soon your eyes too will adjust 
to our new reality beneath,
deeper, richer and more vast 
than you ever could have imagined on the surface.

Deep in the folds of my down covered bed
